When I first became a mom, I remember my mind being consumed by negative talk - I'm not doing this right, I'm not capable enough, I wasn't meant to be a mother. This list goes on...
Sound familiar?
Something I began working on (and continue to work on), is turning my negative thoughts into more positive ones.
Moms often struggle with this because we are in constant comparison with other moms and we are inundated with opinions and ideas about how we should raise our children.
Think about it, when our moms became moms, they didn't have the internet telling them what to do and who to be as a mom, wouldn't that be nice? All they had was their instincts and the people closest to them (most often their own mothers) offering their advice. So why is it that today, we aren't listening to our own intuition and the people we trust most?
The constant researching and questioning often leads us down a road to negative talk and self-doubt. As if we don't have enough on our plate without all of that.
If you're a new mom (or have been one for awhile) I encourage you to try to challenge your self-talk using affirmations. This will build more confidence and cultivate a more optimistic outlook on life.
Motherhood affirmations can be used during meditation, or they can be incorporated into your every day life as a way to reinforce positive beliefs about yourself and your abilities as a mom.
Below are just a few of my favorite encouraging affirmations for moms:
I am enough, just as I am.
I am valued in and out of my home.
My child loves me because I am his/her mother.
I am exactly who my child needs.
I love who I am and who I'm becoming.
I give myself time and space to just breathe and BE.
When I look in the mirror, I LOVE the beautiful woman looking back at me.
I am doing my best. Whatever I do today is enough.
My body's "imperfections" tell a story. I am not a project to be fixed - I am beautiful, strong and deserving of love today.
Affirmations help support you in many aspects of mom-life. These short phrases are an effective way to create a world you wish to see. A daily affirmation will change how you show up for yourself and your children.
________
And if affirmations aren't enough, I can help. I will show you the beautiful mother (and woman) that you are - you will feel it and you will believe it.
