Halloween can be a stressful time for parents (and kids too!). Not only are some of the costumes & decorations scary, but the fact that we load our kids up on toxins & chemicals is also terrifying - I remember gobbling up SO much candy that my stomach would ache for hours on end, leading to chronic fatigue, gut issues & a slew of other health problems.
Now that I'm a mama, I know it's one of my many responsibilities to make sure I save my four year-old from the stomach troubles, the chemicals, hyperactivity and blood sugar crashes that typically ensue during this night each year, while still allowing her to have fun on this spooktacular holiday.
Here are a few of my favorite Halloween Candy alternatives that I feel comfortable eating & feeding my daughter:
I'm sure you've heard by now that there is a lawsuit against Skittles for containing Titanium Dioxide - a chemical used as a whitening agent in foods. It's also been associated with cancer developments after inhalational exposures & may have effects on gastrointestinal function.
So skip tasting the rainbow this season & eat these Giggles instead - NO high fructose corn syrup, no artificial dyes, non-GMO & made with simple (non-toxic) ingredients.
One of my favorite candy brands. There are several different kinds: Sweet fish, Sour rings, Red Twists, Fruity Gummy Bears, and my personal favorite: Sour Blast Buddies. All natural ingredients, only 3 grams of sugar, plant-based fiber, no artificial sweeteners.
So this Halloween, swap out some of your former favorites like Swedish Fish, red licorice & gummy bears for these Smart Sweets.
Allergy friendly, organic, non-GMO & free from artificial dyes & high fructose corn syrup. Also, organic & delicious.
Swap out Dum Dums & Charm Blow Pops for these YumEarth Organic Pops.
Almost everyone (and their mother) loves Reese's PB cups - a classic favorite, & one I love too, until I found out they contain lactose, soy lecithin & dextrose. No thanks!
Swap Reese's for these Unreal Dark Chocolate PB cups - they truly are unreal!
